Cedric Oswald Carter
Pretty good layman's primer on genetics. I like the way Carter provides the reader with a basic lesson in statistics and probability using real life examples (take note textbook writers!). He is also careful to outline the limitations of various research methods. The book is old (1950s) so some of the research may be out of date (but you'll find that a lot of the topics are still being discussed today). The chapter about colour blindness and its advantages was particularly interesting.Due to the counter-intuitive nature of the concepts, the book should be read slowly and with patience, but it's still quite rewarding.
